Victron 5kVA 48V Off-Grid Energy System with 16.1kWh LiFePO₄ Battery and 5.5kW Generator - No Solar Required
Victron 5kVA 48V Off-Grid Energy System with 16.1kWh LiFePO₄ Battery and 5.5kW Generator – No Solar Required
- Run suitable off-grid loads without solar panels: the battery supplies power between generator charging sessions.
- Victron MultiPlus-II inverter-charger provides 230V pure sine wave power, rated at 5kVA / 4kW continuously at 25°C.
- Store 16.1kWh of nominal energy in a Fogstar LiFePO₄ battery, with PowerControl and PowerAssist to manage a compatible generator supply.
Battery and generator power without a solar array
The system comprises:
- 1x Fogstar Energy ECO 51.2V16.1kWh LiFePO₄ Battery (other battery capacities on request),
- 1x Victron MultiPlus II 48V 5kVA Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger,
- 1x Victron Cerbo GX and Victron GX Touch 50 display,
- 1x Excel Power XL6000i 5.5W Petrol Inverter Generator, or
- 1x Hyundai DHY8000SELR 5.5kW Diesel Generator, or
- 1x Excel Power XL6000i-DF 5.5kW Petrol or 5.0 LPG Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator
- 1x Complete set of cables, connectors, disconnectors, and accessories.
With 16.1kWh of battery storage and 5kVA of continuous power, this system is ideal for keeping a business running in off-grid or backup scenarios. It can support equipment, tools, lighting, and other essential systems. It’s also well suited to off-grid homes, with enough capacity to run everyday appliances and heavier loads like washing machines and water pumps.
In fact, one of the Victron MultiPlus-II inverter core design functions is acting as a powerful AC battery charger. When a generator is running and connected to the inverter's AC input, the MultiPlus-II will automatically synchronize with the generator's power, pass that power through to run your household loads, and use any leftover capacity to charge your battery bank.
The price includes a basic set of cables, protection disconnectors, and accessories required to create a fully operational system. User manuals and a connection diagram will be supplied with your order. Mounting not included – if you require a mounting system, contact us for advice.
Key features
- No solar required: operate as a generator-charged battery system where roof space, shading, seasonal use or site restrictions make solar unsuitable.
- Battery-powered operation between charging sessions: reduce the need to run the generator continuously, subject to the load profile and available battery energy.
- Generator load management: PowerControl limits AC input demand, while PowerAssist can supplement an accepted generator supply with battery power during suitable short-term load peaks.
- Substantial lithium storage: one 51.2V, 314Ah Fogstar battery provides 16,076.8Wh nominal energy, with a PACE 200A BMS, built-in heating and a 2A active balancer.
- Expandable monitoring: Victron GX for system monitoring, battery integration and remote access through the free VRM platform.
Where to use
Consider this system for remote offices, rural workshops, cabins, seasonal accommodation, agricultural outbuildings and selected logistics-site loads where a grid connection or solar installation is impractical. Check daily energy demand and equipment starting currents before choosing the system.
How the system works
With the generator stopped, the inverter converts battery DC power into 230V AC. When a generator is running and its output is accepted, the MultiPlus-II can supply loads and charge the battery, within the configured AC input and charging limits.
“No solar required” does not mean no energy input is required: the generator must replenish the battery. Runtime and generator operating hours depend on demand, battery limits, charging settings and generator performance. No fixed runtime or fuel-saving percentage is guaranteed.
