Zero Transfer Time UPS – ICONICA 6kW 48V Inverter-Charger with 4 × Fogstar Drift 3.84kWh LiFePO4 Batteries

  • Keep selected business equipment powered during a mains outage, with 0ms transfer from AC mode to battery mode when correctly configured.
  • Supply up to 6,000W of continuous pure sine wave power from a lithium battery bank with 15.36kWh nominal storage.
  • Built-in inverter Wi-Fi, battery Bluetooth monitoring and an integrated MPPT controller supporting up to 6,000W of compatible solar input.

6kW zero transfer time UPS with Fogstar lithium storage

This zero transfer time UPS pairs an ICONICA IC2-ZT6000-48 inverter-charger with four Fogstar Drift 12.8V 300Ah LiFePO4 batteries. Connected in series, the batteries form a 51.2V nominal, 300Ah bank for a 48V-class system. The package is intended for professionally designed essential-load circuits, with final battery compatibility and commissioning settings confirmed before installation.

This inverter has the ability to be connected in parallel with additional identical units (maximum of 8 further inverters), offering the possibility of large-scale system expansion, with up to 54kW of power handling capability and up to 138.24kWh battery storage capacity. Once connected in parallel, there is the option for 3-phase operation (ideal if the system is being used to power industrial grade equipment and machinery run on 3 phase). Each inverter connected in the system will require a parallel connection kit (sold separately).

Key features

  • Continuity for sensitive loads: 0ms AC-to-battery transfer. Inverter-to-bypass transfer is typically 4ms, so operating-mode selection matters.
  • 6kVA/6kW pure sine wave output: suitable for assessed single-phase essential loads within the inverter and battery limits.
  • 15.36kWh nominal lithium storage: four Fogstar Drift 300Ah batteries, each rated at 3,840Wh, with individual battery management systems.
  • Flexible charging: up to 120A solar charging or 120A mains charging, with the combined charging limit configured for the battery bank.
  • Separate monitoring: inverter Wi-Fi monitoring and Fogstar battery Bluetooth monitoring. Direct battery-to-inverter BMS communication is not assumed.

Where to use

Consider this system for assessed essential-load circuits serving logistics offices, commercial workstations, network equipment, CCTV recorders, access control and selected small-server installations. Check total running power, starting loads and the required backup duration before specifying the package.

This is a single-phase system for selected circuits, not a complete factory or warehouse backup supply. Specialist medical, life-safety and other critical applications require a separate suitability assessment.

System contents and installation

  • 1 × ICONICA IC2-ZT6000-48 6kW 48V-class zero transfer time inverter-charger.
  • 4 × Fogstar Drift 12.8V 300Ah LiFePO4 batteries, using the 250A-BMS configuration specified for this draft.
  • 1 x Mersen DC Fused Disconnect 2-pole NH1 fuse size 250ADC max
  • Required cables, battery interlinks, fuses, AC protection and any enclosure included.

This system is not ready to use straight out of the box. A qualified electrician must design the battery connections, protection, isolation, earthing and essential-load circuits. Ask Energian about installation through trusted partners.

Fogstar permits up to four of these Drift batteries in series. Before assembly, confirm the exact supplied battery revision, follow Fogstar’s initial charging and balancing procedure, and verify ICONICA operation with the proposed battery bank.

Set charging voltage, charge-current limits and low-voltage protection for the Fogstar batteries; do not use an AGM profile by default. Disable lead-acid equalisation and do not select a communications-based lithium profile unless the battery protocol and wiring are confirmed compatible.

The 15.36kWh figure is nominal stored DC energy, not guaranteed usable AC energy. Runtime depends on load, inverter consumption, operating limits, temperature and battery condition. A BMS protection trip can interrupt supply even though the inverter’s normal AC-to-battery transfer is specified at 0ms.
