The Könner & Söhnen KS 48V-DC is a petrol-powered direct-current generator designed specifically for charging compatible 48–54V battery systems. It supplies up to 70A DC directly to the battery system, avoiding the additional AC conversion stage used by a conventional generator and separate charger.
Automatic, manual and external-control modes make it suitable for off-grid, solar, wind, telecommunications, marine and backup-energy systems where a compatible 48V battery bank needs an independent charging source.

Confirm battery compatibility
Use only with a battery system whose operating range matches 48–54V and whose charging controls, BMS and cabling are suitable for up to 70A.
This is a battery charger, not a 230V AC generator.
Automatic charging
In AUTO mode the generator starts at approximately 47.5–48V. It charges to approximately 53.5–54V and stops after charging current falls below 20A.
Cable and control requirements
The charging connection must use correctly sized cables with an 80–100A fuse. Observe polarity and tighten every terminal securely.
The external control terminal accepts voltage-free dry contacts only.

Engine oil and petrol are supplied separately. Confirm that the charging circuit has the required 80–100A fuse before use.
Before first use
Add the recommended engine oil before starting. The generator is supplied without engine oil. Fill with 0.6 litres of suitable SAE 10W-30 or SAE 10W-40 four-stroke engine oil, then check the oil level with the dipstick.
Connect the battery system before starting. Attach the charging wires to the generator first and then to the battery, observe the correct polarity, tighten the terminals securely and use the required fuse protection. The generator has no integrated starter battery and uses the connected battery system for electric starting; a manual starter is available when the connected battery is low.
Operate outdoors, away from doors, windows and air intakes. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide. Keep the generator dry, provide good ventilation around the control panel and underside, and follow all fuel, electrical and maintenance instructions in the manual.

Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty: 1 year or 1,000 operating hours, whichever comes first, from the date of purchase.
The warranty covers manufacturing defects, subject to the manufacturer's warranty conditions. Eligible faults may be repaired or the product replaced. Retain your proof of purchase and any completed warranty documentation supplied with the generator.

Frequently asked questions
Can the KS 48V-DC power household appliances or tools?
No. It is a direct-current battery charger and must not be connected directly to AC appliances, DC loads or a building electrical circuit.
Does it start automatically?
Yes. In AUTO mode it monitors the connected battery voltage, starts at approximately 47.5–48V and stops when charging is complete under the control logic described in the manual.
Can an inverter or BMS control it?
Compatible equipment can control the generator through the voltage-free dry-contact terminal. Never apply voltage to the control terminal.
Does it have a built-in starter battery?
No. The connected 48V battery system activates the electric starting system. A manual starter is available when the connected battery voltage is low.
