How to connect the STREAM Power Plant to the Home Electrical Wiring
Although the EcoFlow STREAM Ultra and STREAM Ultra X are designed for straightforward installation and use, they are solar battery systems and are not covered by the new UK plug-in solar regulations coming into force on 27 August 2026. Those regulations apply to compliant plug-in solar microgenerators only and the government’s Interim Product Specification specifically excludes plug-in batteries and solar-plus-battery systems.
For use in the UK, the STREAM Ultra and STREAM Ultra X should therefore be permanently connected to the property’s electrical installation by a suitably qualified electrician, normally through a fused connection unit or other compliant dedicated connection, in accordance with BS 7671, applicable DNO/grid-connection requirements and the EcoFlow STREAM Safety and Legal Notice. The installer must assess the existing circuit, protective devices, labelling, earthing and RCD/RCBO arrangements before connection.
Battery energy storage systems should be installed in a suitable location, taking account of PAS 63100:2024 guidance, fire safety, ventilation, access, manufacturer instructions and the electrical condition of the property. Habitable-room installation may not be suitable. The STREAM Ultra X is IP65 rated, which makes outdoor installation possible where the site, mounting, cable routing and environmental conditions are appropriate.
This summary is for general product information only and does not constitute legal, electrical or professional advice. Customers should always consult a qualified electrician or competent designer before installation.
Energian can help you review your installation and, where appropriate, connect you with a qualified electrician or trusted partner to handle mounting, wiring and commissioning.

IMPORTANT SAFETY AND LEGAL NOTICE
Follow the safety and installation guidance provided in PAS 63100:2024 here when setting up this kit. Under new guidance, batteries must not be installed in residential spaces; they are best installed in non‑habitation spaces, outside or in an outbuilding meeting prescribed conditions.
Where multiple STREAM Units are used in one property, we recommend the cascaded configuration as described in the user manual. Although a distributed configuration is possible, it's the installer's responsibility to design and implement a system that complies with UK regulations, in particular the General Wiring Regulations. This typically disallows more than one input point per circuit. If in doubt, consult a qualified professional.
