Product Overview
The Fogstar Drift 230Ah Gen 2 battery is built for users who need reliable off-grid 12V power without the weight and maintenance requirements of traditional lead-acid batteries. It is suitable for leisure vehicles, marine systems, cabins, work vans and other 12V electrical installations where stable, high-capacity battery storage is required.
Inside the battery are Grade A, factory-matched and balanced EVE LF230 prismatic cells. Fogstar states that these cells are supplied directly from the manufacturer, helping ensure the battery begins life with good uniformity in capacity and internal resistance.
The battery includes Bluetooth connectivity through the Fogstar Drift app, allowing users to monitor and manage the battery directly from a compatible Android or iOS device. The Gen 2 design also includes battery linking, Victron integration and active balancing, making it suitable for more advanced electrical systems as well as straightforward leisure battery replacements.
Heating Function for Cold Weather Charging
The Fogstar Drift Gen 2 230Ah battery includes a built-in heater to support charging in low temperatures. The heater is designed to heat the battery to 5°C so that charging can take place safely in cold conditions.
The heating pads are activated only when the battery is being charged and are powered by the incoming charge current rather than by the battery itself. In cold conditions, the battery will heat first, then allow current through to the cells once the temperature is suitable for charging.
Active Balancing and Battery Management
The integrated 2A active balancer is built into the BMS architecture rather than being fitted as an external module. It engages when cell deviation exceeds 0.015V and helps maintain long-term voltage balance across the battery pack with minimal power draw and no user intervention.
The BMS provides temperature protection, overcurrent protection and overdischarge protection. The battery is also marked for CE compliance and certified to UN38.3 transport testing.
Series and Parallel Connection
Fogstar states that its 12V Drift models can be connected up to sixteen batteries in parallel or up to four batteries in series, to a maximum system voltage of 48V. Always follow the Fogstar manual when designing and installing a multi-battery system.
