The cable and relevant circuit in your fuseboard must be marked with a warning label indicating that the micro-inverter must be disconnected to de-energise the circuit. The EcoFlow STREAM Microinverter is a grid-connected solar microinverter with a rated grid output of 800VA and maximum grid output current of 3.48A. It is designed to convert solar power from compatible PV panels into usable AC electricity for the home, with surplus generation exported to the grid where permitted.
UK plug-in solar regulations are changing. New regulations come into force on 27 August 2026 and are intended to permit compliant plug-in solar microgenerators to connect through a standard UK plug and socket. However, this route only applies where the complete product complies with the UK Government’s Plug-in Solar Device Interim Product Specification, including the required plug, cable, labelling, documentation, safety protections and G98/grid-registration requirements.
Until the new rules are in force, and unless the product is confirmed as compliant with the UK plug-in solar specification, the STREAM Microinverter should be connected to the property’s electrical installation only by a suitably qualified electrician, normally through a fused connection unit or other compliant dedicated connection, in accordance with BS 7671, applicable DNO/grid-connection requirements, Engineering Recommendation G98 and EcoFlow’s installation instructions.
The installer must assess the existing circuit before connection, including the condition and rating of the wiring, earthing, RCD/RCBO protection, labelling, isolation, cable routing and suitability of the socket or connection point. The connected circuit and any relevant protective devices should be clearly labelled to warn that the microinverter must be disconnected to de-energise the circuit.
The STREAM Microinverter is IP67 rated, but outdoor installation must still take account of mounting security, ventilation, shading, cable routing, mechanical protection, weather exposure, corrosion risk and safe access for maintenance. Solar panels and mounting systems must be installed securely and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, taking account of wind load, fixing method and the condition of the supporting structure.
This product is a solar microinverter and does not itself provide battery storage. Plug-in batteries and plug-in solar-plus-battery systems are not covered by the new UK plug-in solar route and require separate assessment.
