Off-Grid Solar Lighting System for Prefab Site Cabins
This off-grid kit is built to provide reliable lighting power for a 26-32 (L) × 12 (W) × 8.2 (H) ft prefabricated cabin and similar site cabins. It’s designed for temporary and moving sites: quick to assemble, straightforward to take down, and easy to relocate to the next job. The cabin has 500 lux illumination in any point.
The core of the system is the P5000M 5000W 5120Wh all-in-one portable power station in an IP65 cabinet, with an integrated inverter 5000W, battery storage 5120Wh, up to 7000W solar panels and two MPPT solar chargers.
The solar array is roof mounted using a Van der Valk ballasted flat roof mounting kit at a 10° tilt. You can choose either:
- 5 panels in portrait, with south orientation (long side of the cabin is E-W oriented), or
- 6 panels in landscape, with east-west orientation (long side of the cabin is N-S oriented).
A reserve 3.2kW generator and 230V to 110V site transformer are optional.
Why this setup works well on site
Generator runs efficiently, not all night at low load:
The P5000M includes Automatic Generator Start (AGS). Instead of a generator idling away at very low load on winter nights (for example when you’ve only got one light on, or just security cameras running), AGS lets the system run the generator in shorter, high-output bursts to recharge the battery, then shut down again. That means better fuel efficiency, less noise, and less unnecessary engine run time.
Solar reduces fuel usage and helps with net zero targets:
Solar covers a large chunk of the daily energy demand, so the generator becomes a backup rather than the main power source. That cuts fuel consumption and emissions, and helps construction companies evidence progress toward net zero targets, especially on projects where welfare cabins and perimeter lighting run for months.
Robust kit for time-critical, high-profile projects:
The core components are chosen for durability: double-glass bifacial panels with high mechanical loading ratings, and an IP65 power unit with LiFePO₄ batteries rated at 4,000+ cycles.

Key Features
All-in-one design for simpler installation:
The P5000M is factory assembled and tested, reducing typical installation time to under three hours. It uses a rugged IP65-rated enclosure for protection against dust and water ingress, suitable for indoor or outdoor deployment.
Seamless generator integration with AGS:
AGS can manage generator operation based on load, battery state-of-charge, or time schedules. Used correctly, the generator runs for shorter, higher-output periods instead of long low-load runtime, improving fuel efficiency and reducing wear.
Reliable and intelligent energy distribution:
The built-in energy management system balances solar, battery, and generator power automatically. AC output includes leakage protection, with load prioritisation to keep critical loads running.
