ESS Monitoring
Energy Storage System (ESS) Monitoring is the ongoing measurement and reporting of a battery/storage installation's health, performance, and operating state, typically through the battery management system (BMS), power conversion system (inverter), and a supervisory energy management system layer.
Typical ESS Monitoring Functions

Real-time system monitoring — live PV production, battery voltage / current / power, load, and inverter status updated every 1–2 seconds via Web, Android, and iPhone app.

Solar PV monitoring — per-MPPT power, daily/weekly production totals, solar PV forecasting.

Battery/BMS monitoring — via the inverter (voltage, current, power, and SOC/temperature if the inverter has a battery comms cable), or via a direct USB/RS485/CAN connection to the BMS for detailed cell-level data: individual cell voltages, cycle count, state of health, cell imbalance, and per-battery metrics across a bank of Pylontech, Daly, JBD, JK, Seplos, SOK, Victron SmartShunt, and dozens of other supported BMS brands.

Generator readings — reads generator status/charge metrics on inverters that expose them (e.g., Growatt SPF/SPE generator+battery readings, Solis S6 Smart Load/Generator readings, Deye/Luxpower generator and AC-coupling values).

Grid/load monitoring — per-phase grid power, load percentage, essential vs. non-essential load, inverter temperature, fault/alarm codes

Historical data — stores 10+ years of history locally on the default 16GB SD card, with interactive charts.

Electricity price tracking (grid-tied contexts) — sources Nord Pool, EPEX, Octopus, Tibber, and regional day-ahead spot prices, plus Eskom load-shedding schedules.
