    THE BATTERY BANK

    WARNING: Never mix and match batteries in the battery bank. All batteries must be the same type, size, and general age. An old, mismatched, or shorted battery in a bank causes a lot of problems. NOTE: New batteries act like old batteries and will need a few cycles before they operate correctly.

    1. WHAT IS THE BATTERY BANK CAPACITY OF 14.4/19.2KWH LFP ESS?

    The 14.4/19.2KWH LFP ESS uses 3x or 4x well-known PYLONTECH US5000 Lithium-Ferro-Phosphate (LFP batteries with a total capacity of 14,400/19,200Wh in parallel. Patented structure design with high utilization of active material, maximum improve the utilization rate of active material and the utilization ratio of battery internal space. High performance for large current discharge.

    2. WHAT IS THE CYCLE LIFE OF THE BATTERY?

    PYLONTECH US5000 batteries are designed for >6000 cycles @95% DoD (Depth of Discharge).

    3. HOW CAN I GET THE LONGEST LIFESPAN FROM THE BATTERY?

    1. It is required to charge the battery at least once every 6 months, for this charge maintenance make sure the SOC is charged to higher than 90%
    2. Every year after installation. The connection of power connector, grounding point, power cable and screw are suggested to be checked. Make sure there is no loose, no broken, no corrosion at connection point. Check the installation environment such as dust, water, insect etc. make sure it is suitable for IP20 battery system.
    3. If the battery is stored for long time, it is required to charge them every six months, and the SOC should be higher than 90%

    4. WHAT ARE THE BATTERY CARE AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS?

    1. If the battery is stored for long time, it is required to charge them every six months, and the SOC should be no less than 90%
    2. Battery needs to be recharged within 12 hours, after fully discharged
    3. Do not install the product in outdoor environment, or an environment out of the operation temperature or humidity range listed in manual.

    5. WHEN TO CHARGE MY PYLONTECH LIFEPO4 BATTERY?

    If LiFePO4 batteries are not fully discharged, they do not need to be charged after each use. LiFePO4 batteries do not get damaged when left in a partial state of charge (PSOC). You can charge your LiFePO4 batteries after each use or when they have been discharged up to 80% DOD (20% SOC).

    6. WHAT TO DO IF THE LOSS OF POWER OF THE BATTERY BANK IS TOO QUICK?
    Check if there are any high-power electrical appliances connected. The Off-grid Energy Storage System's battery capacity is 14,4kWh or 19.2kWh. Normally, if the power of a connected electrical appliance is ~2000W and the battery is discharged from 100% to 10%, the battery will run out in about 6.5 to 8.6 hours, respectively.

    DC TO AC INVERTER

    1. WHAT DOES A POWER INVERTER DO?

    power inverter is a device which converts battery power into mains power, i.e. it transforms 48V direct current (DC) into 230V alternating current (AC). 230V AC is the power supplied to our houses by utility companies, and this is the power required by most normal household appliances such as lights, TVs, fridges etc. There are two main types of inverters:

    • Off-grid inverters, which work as a standalone system and require batteries (typically used in caravans, boats or locations without access to mains power)
    • On-grid or grid tie inverters, which require mains power to work (typically used in household solar systems and take input directly from solar panels)

    In the 14.4/19.2KWH LFP ESS ICONICA 11000W 48V Off-Grid Pure Sine Wave Inverter is used - i.e. the inverter can be used to build a home 230V "grid".  

    2. WHAT TYPE OF INVERTER IS USED IN THE 14.4/19.2KWH LFP ESS?

    The type of power inverter which is used in the 14.4/19.2KWH LFP ESS is a pure sine wave inverter rated 11000W. The pure sine wave inverter provides an output of up to 11000W which follows a sine wave harmonically. This is similar to utility-supplied grid power. This inverter switches polarity ("+" and "-") between power cables smoothly; gradually increasing or reducing the voltage as required (in case you were wondering why inverters have to switch polarity: this is the essence of alternating current; polarity changes occur approximately 50 times per second).

    3. WHAT ARE THE KEY FUNCTIONS OF ICONICA 11000W 48V HYBRID INVERTER?

    1. 11000W 48V Pure sine wave inverter: Converts DC current into 230V AC mains electricity, to run various household appliances such as a TV, laptop, fridge, microwave, lighting etc. Able to generate 11000VA of continuous power with a strong peak power handling capability of up to 22000VA (to start powerful appliances with electric motors such as pumps, a vacuum cleaner, power tools etc). This inverter is a pure sine wave type, which easily surpasses modified sine wave inverters in terms of efficiency and compatibility with a wider range of appliances.

    2. 2 Nos. built-in 5500W high solar input MPPT Solar charge controllers: Two independent solar inputs can each accept up to 5500W of solar power. The MPPT charge controller regulates the input from the solar panels and charges the batteries at up to 150A, with a full range of safety functions including protection against overcharge, overheating, reverse current etc. Advanced MPPT technology extracts the maximum possible output from the solar panels and operates at up to 93% efficiency. This inverter is therefore well-suited to systems with large and powerful solar arrays, or two solar arrays with different panels or light conditions. Performance data for the solar arrays is displayed on the LCD screen.

    3. Enhanced 150A Smart battery charger: Designed to enable safe, efficient, and fast (up to 150A) unattended charging of a battery from a mains power source or generator, with full overcharge protection and multiple charging stages.

    4. System expansion potential: This inverter has the ability to be connected in parallel with additional identical units (maximum of 5 further inverters), offering the possibility of large-scale system expansion, with up to 66kw of power handling capability. Once connected in parallel, there is the option for 3-phase operation (ideal if the system is being used to power industrial grade equipment and machinery run on 3 phase).

    4. WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL INTELLIGENT FUNCTIONS OF THE ICONICA 11000W 48V HYBRID INVERTER?

    The Iconica 11000W 48V hybrid inverter boasts an abundance of unique features, providing enhanced functionality over standard inverters. These include:

    - Load power without a battery: This inverter is able to power AC loads (and itself) directly from the solar input, without the need for a battery bank to be connected to the inverter. By powering loads using the energy directly supplied from the solar panels, this Iconica inverter offers a uniquely independent and versatile power system, free from batteries if preferred. Removing the need for batteries also increases the efficiency of the energy generated from the solar array by reducing the power losses that this transfer of energy would usually cause. However, if a battery bank is available, the inverter can power loads directly from the solar panels whilst the charging batteries at the same time. For example, if 10000W of solar power is flowing into the inverter, 2000W can be used to run appliances whilst the remaining 8000W will be used for charging the battery bank. 

    - Output source priority: This intelligent feature allows the user to set output source preferences (solar/battery power/mains input or a generator) for the AC load output of the inverter. This menu includes several options for varying conditions and scenarios, e.g., which source of energy is given priority for the AC output if solar power is insufficient/if battery voltage is too low/if mains is unavailable, etc.

    - Battery charging priority: A wide selection of battery charging priority options are available. For instance, the user can choose to charge the battery using solar power only/using a combination of solar power and mains power/from mains power only etc.

    - A range of highly customisable settings: The parameters for this inverter can be personalised to an exceptionally specific degree via the user-friendly interface. At the touch of a button, the user can customise parameters such as the AC input range, battery type, max charging current, specific high/low voltage disconnect points (and preferred charging source upon reconnection), the duration and voltage of each charging stage, auto-restart options, power saving mode, overload bypass, battery equalization stage characteristics and so on. There are also options for managing operational features such as the audible alarm and backlight settings.

    - Illuminated removable LCD screen: Displays vital statistics which are easily changeable by use of the up/down keys. This information includes: status and mode, input/output voltage, frequency, battery voltage, load power and percentages, charge and discharge current etc. The LCD display is removable and can be positioned up to 20m away from the inverter for remote system monitoring (requires additional basic RJ45 connection cable – not included).  

    - Customisable RGB light bar: LED indicator strip across the front of the inverter can be programmed to show battery charge level or solar/mains/battery input in customisable colours, allowing you to easily see the system status at a glance.

    - Advanced communication options: The inverter is supplied with a PC connection cable and PC software CD for convenient viewing of important system information, such as:  solar/battery/AC voltage, charging current, battery capacity etc. Detailed data logs are also available to view and export to PDF/Excel formats from the PC software. This inverter also has the potential to send data to a mobile app using the built-in wi-fi kit, or to an online user portal using a Wi-Fi connection kit (purchased separately). By connecting via this method, the user will unlock access to exclusive features such as email status updates for the inverter, remote system monitoring from any location and much more.

    - Auto restart function: When overload or overheating occurs, the inverter will disconnect the load appliances, and automatically reconnect once safe conditions are detected.

    - Generator auto-start function: If connected to a generator via dry contacts, the Iconica inverter can send a signal to automatically start the generator as soon as the battery voltage drops below a certain level.

    - Intelligent cooling design: The inverter uses predictive fan logic based on performance and temperature (1, 2 or 3 fans operating at a time, with variable speeds) to prevent over-heating of the components.

    *Appliances marked with a star are likely to have a starting power consumption several times greater than their normal working power (typically this is caused by electric motors). For example, even though electric lawnmowers have a normal working power of 2000W, their starting power is over 8000W. This means that an inverter with a continuous power of 8000W is suitable because its peak power is limited to 16000W. 

    **These appliances do not have an electric motor inside but still have a variable power consumption with power spikes. Therefore they require a larger inverter than would be needed for other appliances with a similar nominal power rating.

    Please also note: this table is provided for general guidance only. The actual power consumption of your appliances, as well as starting power requirements, may vary considerably. In all cases, you will need to check the specifications of your equipment to find their continuous and starting power requirements.

    If more than one device is connected to the inverter, the total power consumption should be the sum of all appliances used. This will determine the total inverter power required.

    6. WHY ARE A 48V BATTERY BANK AND 48V DC TO 230V AC INVERTER IS USED?

    This setup will provide some important benefits:

    • The input current for the inverter will be four/two times smaller for 48V than for 12V or 24V, making the inverter and the entire system safer and more reliable;
    • The cables between your battery and the inverter do not have to be as thick as those used for a 12V or 24V battery bank and inverter.

      7. WHAT AC INPUTS/OUTPUTS HAVE THE 11000W INVERTER?

      8. DOES THE 11000W POWER INVERTER HAVE WIRELESS CONTROL?

      YES (as an option). The inverter is supplied with a PC connection cable and PC software CD for convenient viewing of important system information, such as solar/ battery/ AC voltage, charging current, battery capacity etc. Detailed data logs are also available to view and export to PDF/ Excel formats. This inverter also has the potential to send data to an online user portal using a Wi-Fi Remote Monitoring Kit (purchased separately). By connecting via this method, the user will unlock access to exclusive features such as email status updates for the inverter, remote system monitoring from any location and much more.

      9. WHAT TO DO IF THE 11000W INVERTER CANNOT POWER ELECTRICAL  APPLIANCES?

      1. First, please check whether the output power of the 11000W inverter can meet the charging power requirements of your appliances.
      2. In case of a warning, take action as described in the User Manual.

      10. WHAT TO DO IF THE USAGE TIME OF AN ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE IS TOO SHORT?
      As the power of each electrical appliance is different, the discharge efficiency of the 11000W inverter is less than 100% (the best efficiency is about 95%). Hence, the actual usage time of electrical appliances may be shorter than the theoretical time. The discharge efficiency should be calculated based on the continuous power of your appliances.
